Poe's tavern is a local institution on Sullivan's Island that is very popular with the college crowd. It can get noisy and busy here at happy hour and late in the night on weekends. The menu offers a variety of hamburgers cooked to order, all named after different stories by Edgar Allen Poe. Nachos, quesadillas, salads and fish tacos are also featured on the menu. The theme is very bar-oriented, with funky Poe posters and memorabilia all around.
I have had more than one amazing burger's at Poe's. Be forewarned, they are always extremely busy and you sometimes have to park a couple of blocks away.

I had the Pit & Pendulum burger, which was served with applewood smoked bacon and cheddar cheese. I had the burger prepared medium-well. The burger was good, however there was nothing remarkable about it. It hardly differed from a bacon cheeseburger you can get at any Chili's restaurant.
