Melvin's is another staple for us. I once again went with the Little Joe BBQ Chicken Sandwich again and still love it. Fried Okra and sweet tea are also essential to the meal!

I decided to try the BBQ chicken sandwich this time and was not disappointed one bit! I think it was even better than the pulled pork I have eaten in the past. We still love this place and eat at least once when we're in town.
May 2007 My favorite pulled pork sandwich can be found at Melvin's. It's inexpensive and fast. I suggest visiting the Folly Road location in Charleston during trips to Folly Beach, Charleston Tea Plantation, and other sites in that general direction.
Be sure to try the onion ring. Yes, singular ring. Melvin's famous onion ring is a large battered ring larger than your fist. THe fried okra is also good. A variety of sauces are available to accompany your sandwich. The cheeseburger has been voted the best in the U.S. by People magazine and Emeril Lagase. Be warned that if you crave BBQ on Sunday, you can't get it at Melvin's because they are closed Sundays.
